TEAM ORGANIZATION

HYLINE OFFICERS

The officers are elected by the team, outside judges and Directors from interested candidates based on their qualifications which include: dedication to the team, demonstrated responsibility, teaching ability, reputation, organizational skills, dance ability and choreography skills. Under the Directors, they help choreograph, plan activities and assist in administrative duties.

OFFICER CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be a sophomore or a junior and at least a one year Hyline member
  2. Cannot receive an F in any course or a 5 demerit penalty during the year she is auditioning
  3. Must have proven record of volunteering above and beyond a Hyline member’s requirements (a service record is submitted one week prior to auditions)

OFFICER AUDITIONS

  1. Present notebook and service record to team and Directors one week before auditions
  2. Interview with Directors
  3. Perform at auditions (One routine candidate’s own musical choice; one routine to Director’s choice of music, across the floor combination, interview with judges)
  4. Present one minute speech to team

OFFICER SELECTION

  1. Directors determine each year how many offices and officers there will be
  2. Returning members rate candidates on qualifications as stated above
  3. Judges will watch candidate’s solos, choreography and have a short interview

OFFICER REQUIREMENTS

  1. Attend three summer camps plus be available at additional times during summer to choreograph and organize (Officer Camp is paid for with Hyline funds)
  2. Maintain detailed officer notebook and officer list of a duties performed
  3. Attend ALL Hyline rehearsals and functions

OFFICER DUTIES

  1. Work with Directors on choreography and teaching the team
  2. Set an example for other team members by maintaining a positive and cooperative attitude and promoting school spirit and team unity
  3. Represent Hyline in any school or community function
  4. Maintain discipline, communication, motivation and a willingness to work with their companies
  5. Give demerits when necessary to all officers and team members
  6. Participate in Hyline tryout clinics and tryouts
  7. Keep notebook with current roster, handbook, duties assigned, sacred section, schedules, etc.
  8. Perform all duties requested by the Directors

BENCH OF OFFICER

Officers reaching 11 demerits will be benched until the end of the semester

HYLINE BOARD

Working with the Directors, they will assist in organizational and social duties. Directors determine each year how many offices and board members there will be.

BOARD QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be a sophomore or junior and at least a one year Hyline member
  2. Must submit a notebook to the team demonstrating dedication to the team and their responsibility level
  3. Candidates may not have received a 5 demerit penalty at any time during the year

BOARD SELECTION

The Board members are elected by the team, directors and judges.

BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. YES Books
  2. Help with and/or coordinate social events – Summer Picnic, My Favorite Man, First Course, Mother-Daughter Banquet and Team parties
  3. Must be available in summer and for after school meetings
  4. Help run August “Dance Clinic & Jazz Workshop”
  5. Maintain organized notebooks
  6. Pass out/label all costumes and rehearsal gear
